Ugrading LCD

#1 Post by oneillsite » Sun Dec 16, 2007 3:15 am

Hi all,

I want to change the LCD part of a T60:
Original = 14.1 " XGA 1024x768

to 14.1 " SXGA+ 1400x1050

So i just want to change the LCD screen.

Does anybody knows if there is any problem with the connector ?
Is the new LCD will be recognize ?...

Any advise ? Tips ?

Thanks !!

You need to change only the LCD cable and the LCD panel, and everything will work perfectly. There are no connector incompatibilities, no BIOS issues, nothing at all.

If you have Bluetooth and you want to keep it, then make sure to get the LCD cable that has the Bluetooh connector on it.

Also, do you have integrated WiFi??? You'll need to deal with that, too.

This probably refers to disconnecting and reconnecting the antenna cables, if any. Clearly, one has to put back in place whatever one disconnects. Other than that, there are no special considerations related to integrated WiFi or anything else.

Yup yup...Just making sure oneillsite is aware of everything he needs to do, as I contemplated doing the same, but looking at the hardware manual was not exactly encouraging, so I upgraded to another beautiful Thinkpad for the 3rd time this year alone. And boy, am I glad I did. To get an AFFS IPS with a flawless UXGA screen was a welcome surprise. Movies look like my HDTV at home. 8)

I looked at your signature for the first time and man, it's a fabulous rig indeed. "Upgrading" to Windows XP would make it even better.
