T60 owner planning to upgrade to T61

#1 Post by jagged » Sun Dec 16, 2007 9:42 am

Hello guys! Its been awhile since I last posted in the forums.

Currently have a few T60's in the office (1st gen Core Duo) and I'm planning to purchase a T61 from Lenovo USA (since my country is included in IWS of this model) but I have some questions about compatibility and hope you can help answer them...

1) Are T60 and T61 ultrabay slim drives interchangeable? (I'm planning to get the basic DVD with CD writer only as I have other T60's in the office that already has DVD writable and I don't really need another one)

2) Does T60 and T61 use the same power adaptor?

3) Are T60 and T61 RAM modules interchangeable?

4) Is WXGA+ screen + built in webcam really not available? (I only saw WXGA + camera in the online options).

5) Can T61 use the T60's docking station?

6) This will be my first Vista PC so I'm curious, is 2GB RAM good enough or will I see a very noticeable performance improvement if I get a T61 with 3GB RAM?

Thanks so much !!!

Answers are yes to 1, 2, 3 and 5, definite no to 4 (lots of guys at my work have WXGA+ and webcam) and "2GB is probably enough" for 6.
