Hi. I'm sure many of you must have tv on your thinkpads and so I'm looking for advice on kitting up for TV using a DVB-T usb dongle as I'm receiving a consistent blue screen on my T42
I'm running Xp Pro Sp1 1Gb ram
USB 2.0 is working fine when using on another bluetooth dongle
The Blaze tv software installs fine but it's the Blaze softare that is mentioned on the blue screen of death
When the DVB-T dongle is inserted into the USB slot it lights up and a channel scan is done but no channels found. Then it's blue screen time every time
I'm reluctant to go to SP2 unless it's absolutely essential as I experienced problems before on a pc and no option to go back or system restore meant a total reinstall
Splurge says it needs SP2 so what does it require from SP2 and can that be installed separately?
It also mentions Win 2000 sp4 as an option so can the required be supplied from that?

I would recommend you to upgrade your XP to SP2, then to see if the problem persists. The SP2 has changed XP quite a bit and made it one of the best operating systems on the market.
The easiest way to upgrade is using the Windows Updater. If you want to install it separately, here's the file.
I hope it helps. Good luck!

I have two of different brands of DVB-T USB dongs. One has the Blaze TV software 2.0, and another one with 2.5. Both are on Windows XP PRO SP2. I had similar problems on T41 and T42, both has 1.7G, 1G RAM, ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 32M video RAM. It seems like either video RAM is not enough or TV USB dong is over-heated (i guess this is a problem). I do not have a blue screen but it hangs just after one hour+ usage.
On custom-built AMD 4000+ Dual Core, 4G RAM, 1.5G (shared + on-board Nvidia Video RAM), 19" LCD, Windows XP PRO SP 2, it lasts only few hours without problems then it freezes - no blue screen though. I had to restart the Blaze TV software again.
*** I try to keep my DVB-T USB dong cooler - it works much better.
