upgrading ram/memory on a T42, 2378

#1 Post by hms » Wed Nov 17, 2004 4:49 pm

Have just received my T42 (came with 256Mb Ram) plus an extra 1 Gb ram stick from "Transcend" (TS128MSD64V3A). Does it matter, which of the two ram slots I use for the big 1 Gb stick?! Is there something as a primary ram slot?

NO difference

I don't think there is any difference. I received my T42 2378 today and installed RAM myself. If you take a look of the bottom side, open the cover for RAM, there is only one available for upgrade.

there are two available slots for upgrade, one is located at the bottom of the thinkpad, the other under the keyboard. Use access ibm to get a full explanation on installing extra ram. They are both identical, by default the slot located under the thinkpad is empty and is usually accessed when upgrading first for convinience.

It shouldn't matter which ram slot you install your ram. I have a 512mb stick under my keyboard and then have the 1gb stick under the panel that's easy to access.
