Can I bypass the security chip and user authentication?

#1 Post by Errowen » Sun Dec 16, 2007 4:58 pm

I bought my T60 with XP Home Edition. The embedded security chip and log-in features create a lot of headaches. Less than six months old, I can log on through the fingerprint reader, but the machine pops up a dialogue box stating there are no fingerprints associated with my profile (I did five) and prompts me for a password. I didn't create a password for my login. I cancel that dialogue box six times and the system settles down and operates as if nothing happened. What a nuisance.
Is there a way to alter the startup sequence to bypass the chip?

if you want to bypass the chip you can just disable it. if you just want to bypass the login procedure i think you can adjust it in the main css program...

Good. Can you tell me how, or direct me to some site with the information?

Go to BIOS and look for security option.

There are also some fingerprint settings in the fingerprint software itself.

You could disable or remove "cssauth.exe" from the autostarts. That should do the trick.
