SOLD!Z61t (9443-A41), like new, WXGA+, warranty,worldwide,

#1 Post by ajkula66 » Mon Dec 17, 2007 6:13 pm

Someone has just brought me an absolutely like new (the only thing missing is the box) Z61t...

ThinkPad Z61t 9443-A41

Original description: Based on 9443-88U: T2400(1.83GHz), 1GB RAM, 60GB 5400rpm HD, 14.1in 1440x900 LCD, Intel 950, DVD, Intel 802.11abg wireless, Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure chip, IEEE 1394, 4c Li-Ion batt, WinXP Pro

This one has 3Gb RAM. Warranty is on-site, until 10-13-2009.

The only caveat I can find with this ThinkPad is that the factory preload, along with restore partition, is gone with the wind. A retail version of XP is the current OS.

Asking $650 firm. Will ship worldwide and accept most payment methods. My usual offer of FREE shipping to lower 48 states if you choose NOT to use PayPal applies.

Feel free to PM me with any questions/concerns/requests that you might have concerning this ultimate Christmas gift... :D

Thanks once again to all forum members who have helped me with pricing of this fine machine.

George, I am seeing these on Craigslist for $800 with not as good specs and 1 year warranty. So I'd guess $850 would sell here, perhaps more on EBay.

A zillion thanks to my good friend, our ever-so-helpful and resourceful Mod Harryc and a couple of other people who sent me PMs regarding this machine and helped me make up my mind, because they were all pretty much on the same page.

The unit is for sale now, at $700.

I've just received fiftieth phone call from the very motivated owner of this laptop. They need this gone by Thursday.

Price drop from $700 to $675 and please feel free to submit a reasonable offer. This machine is way to pretty to end on eBay....

looking for exact 9443-A41 specs

#10 Post by no_man » Sun Dec 23, 2007 12:10 pm

I have not located a clear specification sheet on the ThinkPad Z61t,
model/type 9443-A41. Plenty of spec sheets, not for this exact machine.

It's a CTO model based on 9443-88U.

Ah, I see the phrase "based on 9443-88U" now. So Lenovo started using the designation "CTO" only very recently?

Actually, term "CTO" is quite old, at least as old as A3x series...see this one, for instance:

Product: ThinkPad A31 2654-Y13 [change]
Operating system: All [change]

Original description: Based on 2654-CTO: P4-M 1.8GHz, 1024MB RAM, 60.0GB HDD, 15 UXGA(1600x1200), 8x8x24x/8x CD-RW/DVD-ROM, Modem(CDC), Ethernet(CDC), Win2000

Final price drop from $675 to $650. It goes on eBay after that.

I may consider a trade (up or down) for T4x with a FlexView LCD but it must have some warranty left.

Very, very tempting. It's IWS eglible here too. If I don't find an X6x soon I might go for this. Are you planning to keep it here long before going for Ebay?

According to the ltwbook, the 14.1" widescreen Z61t is about 0.3 pounds lighter than the 14.1" widescreen T61, both with 4-cell batteries. I think it's the lightest 14.1" Thinkpad ever made, regardless of the display's aspect ratio. It's probably also the lightest Thinkpad with an integrated optical drive. It might indeed be a good substitute for the X6*.

Well, I'm just getting annoyed that I can't seem to find a good x6x with a decent price..might as well as go for a larger machine. At least they are available :)

kosse, this Z61t weighs around 4.7 lbs and assuming that its optical drive can be easily removed and replaced with a travel bezel, its weight can be reduced to around 4.3 lbs. Most people would consider that quite portable. Granted, the X6* is even lighter (between 2.7 lbs and 3.7 lbs), but the Z61t's 1440x900 resolution is much better than the X6*'s 1024x768. You should seriously consider getting this.

This is an awesome thinkpad offer! I always like Z61t's form factor much better than widescreen T61. Too bad my T42 is still working perfectly :D or I would take this in heartbeat.

This thread has several photos of the Z61t, and the "Thinkpad Love" site has many photos of the Z60t, which I assume is very similar to the Z61t. I find the Z6*t much better looking than the 14.1" widescreen T61.

I just picked up a Z61t, or I'd be interested in this one, too.

As far as I can tell, the Z61t's seem to be either the most underrated or best kept ThinkPad secret. The build quality is very high and the finish is just like the T-series, with sparkly, rubberized top cover finish. It's also very thin, almost as thin as a 14" T4x. It's a little wider but considerably deeper than a T4x, too.

It's very fast and quiet, too.

With the 4 cell and optical drive, it is under 5lbs. With a 7 cell and optical drive, mine is exactly 5lbs. My T40 is also exactly 5lbs. with a 6 cell and optical drive. So, the Z61t weighs less than the T40 if a similar battery was available, but this makes sense, since a 14.1" widescreen is considerably smaller in area than a 14.1" standard LCD.

For a travel machine, it would be a good size, with the 4 cell battery. The 7 cell makes it a little awkward, like a T4x with a 9 cell.

However, you could use a 4 cell with a 3 cell Ultrabay battery in place of the optical, that would still be under 5lbs. and quite compact.
