Getting "0200 Failure Fixed Disk 7" - am I doomed?

#1 Post by doppelfish » Tue Dec 18, 2007 10:53 am

... or is it just that the disk is hinting that it wants an early retirement?

I'm getting the "0200 Failure Fixed Disk 7" every other time I boot my T43p - actually, a few times in a row, until it ... er, goes away for a couple of boots. Should I file the order for that new HDD, or is there some magic I can perform to make the 0200 go away?

Also, what's with the "Disk 7"? I'd be surprised if there were more that one hard drive in there. No USB drives, and the UltraBay holds the DVD+RW thingy. Any ideas how the count of "7" comes to be?

That was a problem in Z60 machines that was fixed in later BIOS release. (the message was fixed) I would assume it would be the same problem, since the T43 does have SATA circuitry. In the Z machines, it meant that the disk wasn't connected well to the connector or the disk was dying and you got that message instead of the intel boot stuff you get if you start the machine with no HD. I would unplug the dask and reseat it. If that didn't fix the problem I would go disk shopping, hoping the problem was the disk, rather than the controller.
