IE problems
IE problems
I've had problems running IE after putting XP Pro SP2 onto a stock XP Home installation.
There's an IE 6 icon on my desktop, but when i click it, it puts a new "Shortcut to Internet Explorer" icon on my desktop. WHen i click either of those, nothing happens.
Microsoft Windows Update doesn't do anything to fix it.
when i got my T60, IE7 was in the applications list, not windows component list. What's the best way to fix this??
Thanks

I second that motion. After several years using Firefox, I STILL find out new ultracool reasons to only ever use Firefox instead of IE. I also prefer IE6 to IE7. The tabbed browsing, a Mozilla invention, copied by Microsoft, was implemented so poorly, it's scary, as it can't be that complicated to program that function to where it's at least usable.
As much as I love Windows, there are two Microsoft applications I simply don't like. Internet Explorer 7, and Outlook in MS Office.
Microsoft did get me with Windows Mobile 5.2.2 this year, and now WM6 Pro, after I had used and preferred Symbian and the Palm OS for years, until the Treo 750.
Oops, a little OT in the end. Just trying to convey the bigger picture if that makes any sense.

Do you want to use IE6 or IE7. If the latter is the case, I would uninstall the current IE install, run a registry cleaner, and re-download, and re-install IE7 from microsoft.com.charredii wrote:thanks, but I do have firefox, but I would like to be able to have IE, if i ever need it just in case.
anyone? has this happened to anyone else???

Yes, but in order to have that IE tab work in FF, you still need to have a working IE installation.DavidR wrote:In FireFox, download and install the IE Tab extension. It works for sites that need IE for some reason but at least you are still in FF.
