SOLD: T42P UXGA

#1 Post by kimo » Tue Dec 18, 2007 10:30 pm

Up for sale is my t42p. The model is 2373-HVU.

The specs:
Product: ThinkPad T42p 2373-HVU [change]
Operating system: Windows XP [change]
Original description: P M 745, 1GB RAM, 60GB 7200rpm HDD, 15 UXGA(1600x1200) TFT LCD, 128MB ATI FireGL T2, 24x24x24x/8x CD-RW/DVD(slim), IBM 802.11a/b/g wireless(MPCI), Bluetooth/Modem(CDC), 1Gb Ethernet(LOM), UltraNav, Secure Chip, 9 cell Li-Ion battery, WinXP Pro

Warranty expires on May 11, 2008.

Overall, the laptop is in excellent condition.

There is a tiny area on the top lid that is discolored. Sort of a shinier black then the rest of the lid. (See edit below)

One of the rubber grips at the base of the laptop is missing. I believe this may be replaceable under warranty.

There is a really tiny spot on the left side of the LCD. You can't see it unless you're looking for it and you definately won't see it depending on the background.

The health of the battery is yellow. The cycle count is 27 and it holds a charge of 44.91Wh.

I think I've disclosed everything negative about the laptop. I've included links to the photos below.

I'm asking $700 + the actual cost of shipping. Add 2.9% for paypal fees if using a credit card.

I'm also selling a crucial 1GB memory chip for this laptop. I'm asking $75 for it + shipping.

[ADDED] I forgot to mention that the laptop comes with the port replicator and two AC adapters.

[ADDED] Someone asked so just in case anyone else is asking, the keyboard p/n is 39T0612. The only thing I could find is that it may have been made in Thailand. Maybe someone can confirm.
The LCD has a p/n 92P6752.

[ADDED] A few asked for close-ups of the top lid showing the discoloration I described above. However, after wiping the lid, the discoloration disappeared. I should have done this before. Anywhere, here are more pics of the lid and it looks a heck of lot better than before.

Just to let you know that Paypal does not allow extra charges to cover the transaction fee. It's in the eula.

I hate Paypal too. :(

Sounds like a nice machine. I was looking for a P M 760 T43. What MHz is it your T42?

A couple questions for the forum:

Is the T42 a Dolthan?

I see that the thermal design power usage is much lower in P M 745 compared to a P M 760. How does the P M 745 battery life compare to the P M 760?

The front side is bus is 400 MHz instead of 533 MHZ. How does this affect performance?

thanks again!

T30, T43 flexview, T43P flexview. retired

The main difference is that you can actually use this T42p as a laptop, in the original meaning of the word, because it's way cooler than PM760 version of T43 (let alone T43p) that is dangerously hot. And this is from someone who likes T43s...

The machine in question will be slower, quieter and cooler. It will also have a better-although not by a huge margin-battery life.

If compared to a regular T43, the GPU in this machine is far better. Compared to T43p, it's almost as good but not nearly as hot.

Hope this helps.
