Ordered a T61, few questions.

How is the quadro 140m for gaming? i can find all the benchmarks in the world for it telling me its 3dmark score, but theres no info on how it does in the 'real world'.

and can the 140m be more power optimized than it seems to be able to be via underclocking/volting? i had to get a 7-cell just to keep up with the idle draw people report.

and lastly, is the CPU soldered to the motherboard like the X series?

/edit
and will i regret going for the atheros wifi over the intel-N wifi. (for osx and backtrack linux support mainly) because i hear that 3rd antenna makes a huge difference even on b/g connections.
Does the bios still whitelist what wifi cards can be installed?

You can play bioshock, and crysis at the lowest possible setting. It has a hard time playing time shift even at the lowest setting. It can play fear at medium setting pretty well. Quak 4 runs very well on it at medium setting. If you want to use it for gaming, I think you should go for the Quadro 570m rather than the Quadro 140m. Old games like far cry, doom 3 plays very well at medium and setting. I'm using a tweaked driver for windows xp.

I was very close to getting a T61p, but it didnt come in 14" wide and the 570m is supposedly horrible on the battery.

Im not trying to run crysis or anything, i have an 8800 GT in my desktop for that stuff, but the occasional old game is fine. was just trying to get a better feel for it than **** 3dmarks. :)

Then 140m is fine. It is a bit more powerful than the ATI x1400.

Cool, so what about atheros abg vs the intel 802.11n card? for just b/g networks?

or later on the atheros abgn card.

If you plan on using Linux I'd definitely go with the intel card, I've had little experience with the atheros card in Windows however.

I went with atheros because it's fully supported by backtrack's wifi security tools with the madwifi driver.

I have the old atheros ABG in an x40 and it performs excellently in windows.
My only concern is maybe getting better reception if i want to get an N card later.
