WTB: X60(s) or X61(s) *FOUND*

Dear members,

I am interested in buying an X6x series laptop with an ultrabase (nice to have, not a necessity) and a good battery.

The machine I'm looking for should be in a good physical condition; preferably as close to mint as possible.

I have a budget of 700-800$ so that propably leaves the most loaded high-end machines out of my reach but you are free to make an offer and surprise me

My location is Finland. I have bought from George (ajkula66) before and it went well for us both. I'd rather buy from a longtime member that has a good reputation as a seller.

Almost forgot..it would be better if the machine had some warranty left. Preferably IWS (International Warranty Service). You can check if your machine is IWS eligibile from here.

I have thought about this a bit and the Ultrabase is not a necessity. Feel free to offer machines without one!

I've had no luck so far but I'm still looking. My budget should be enough for a decent x60/61 or a x60s machine, right?

Did you end up enquiring about the one kimo was selling? Since you posted in the thread, I'll assume you did, but worth asking just to be certain.

I did, but it wasn't IWS eglible in my country and these machines are a bit too expensive for me to take that kind of risk. So I won't, unless I get can get one dirt cheap

kosse, I noticed that you just received the Z61t from George. Please tell us whether you find it a good substitute for the X series!

Well, I would not describe it as a substitute but it seems to be a very good machine nevertheless. The best comparison would be to a 14" widescreen T60/61 but unfortunately I don't have one.

That said I believe it's a bit lighter than a 14.1" T61 and definitely a lot lighter than my 14" T41 w/ 9cell battery. Much of that is attributed to the 4cell battery but it's still a very compact machine. In fact it competes succesfully with many consumer class 13.3" machines in terms of weight. Here's a picture to show how it compares to and ordinary consumer grade 14.1" notebook (Asus A8JS). I didn't bother to take more pictures but as you can see it's significantly smaller (and also thinner).

Build quality feels solid and at least surpasses my T41 by far. The lid especially is very sturdy, on the other hand, it makes the machine look a bit thick. I left my T41 to my study place so I can't compare the actual thickness of the machines. The "bottom" is also better built than in a T41.

I'd say it's a great inexpensive alternative to 14" widescreen T-series. The battery life with the standard 4 cell isn't great of course but the price isn't bad either.

Don't forget that the optical drive can be swapped out for a travel bezel. After doing that, this Z61t will weigh about the same as the heaviest X-series models, i.e. the X6* tablets with 8-cell batteries..

True. I see your point. If there is a need for a lightweight machine with good screen resolution and the battery life isn't an issue the Z61t offers those functions at a fraction of the cost of a X6x tablet.
