SOLD: 1.6GHz Intel Pentium M Processor (CPU)

#1 Post by sojourner » Wed Dec 19, 2007 7:36 am

For Sale

Intel Pentium M 1.6GHz Processor (CPU)
Intel P/N SL6FA
1.6GHz, 400MHz FSB, 1M L2 cache, B1 core stepping

You can find FULL SPECS here:
http://processorfinder.intel.com/detail ... spec=sl6fa

If you have a slower CPU, consider an upgrade. It can be done with little effort and what a difference it can make for very little money. This CPU is used in MANY different laptops, not just IBM's. This comes out of a T41 so it will work in T-series (not sure about T43 though). Be sure to check compatibility before buying!

Price: $18.50, shipping is FREE

I currently have a 1.3GHz. I was contemplating a 1.7 GHz Dothan, but I'm not sure I even need the 2MB L2 cache...

What do you think? :D

I've read a large L2 cache does improve performance. How much? It depends on a number of factors. The BIGGEST improvement you'll see is by upgrading to a faster clock speed. For example, going from a 1.3 ghz to the 1.6 ghz, clock speed is increased over 23%. That increase should be noticable to you! :D

Sell your 1.3ghz for $10 (you'd probably get more), and for $8.50 your notebook will have a 23+ percent upgrade in speed and processing power (larger L2 does NOT provide more processing power). For $8.50, sounds like a no-brainer decision!

Please send a PM if you are interested and I'll send my Paypal ID!
