Is M$ doing a dirty again with IE7?

#1 Post by RealBlackStuff » Wed Dec 19, 2007 8:04 am

Over the weekend I updated my XP-Pro/SP2 with the 'Tuesday' patches.
I only ever install the Express (required/recommended) updates.
Did not use IE (actually almost never do) until this morning.

Surprise

All my Favorites are gone, and instead of my homepage TPF, it opened with some MSN crap page, even though the homepage was still set to TPF. Clicking on the 'house' confirmed that.

Anybody else got hit by this yet another trial of Micro$haft Bloatware to rule the browser world?

PS1: me being clever, I store my Favorites on another partition. Using TweakUI, I just changed the Favorites location back to the other partition, and they were still all there.

PS2: since there is such a plethora of converters, anyone recommend a good (free) converter from Firefox 2.0.0.11 to IE7?
As I nearly always use FF, I should update the IE-Favorites to 'sync' with FF.

PS2a: just found that IE7 is able to import Bookmarks.
Open IE7 -> press Alt -> File -> Import and Export -> Next -> Import favorites -> Next -> Import from a file -> browse in Mozilla Folder for bookmark.htm.

Now, see, Bill thought the first one looked like a rat, so erik fixed a new one for me! I think the pink ears are particularly fetching... So innocent... Just a little mousie... Wouldn't hurt a fly..........

I appreciate your sentiments, but if I look at Google Images with 'mouse rodent', there are plenty of much cuter mice available.
e.g. http://ownercommunity.homeaway.com/Reso ... /mouse.jpg
Perhaps something to check out next time you get snowed in?
Edit: just saw your location SC, do they HAVE snow there at all?

Careful Joester, people have been flogged or four-quartered for lesser crimes....
