DVD burner questions

#1 Post by koreylaw » Wed Dec 19, 2007 12:01 pm

I have a T61 with the 39T2829/GSA-U10N burner installed and it is the slowest burning drive I have ever had, it seems like it's burning at 1X. I have tried 5 different types of name brand DVD media but it is always the same. Does anyone else have this problem?? Is my drive defective??
I see there are other compatible drives with my T61 is there any advice on which is the best or favorite of users out there?? Also is there a slim drive out there that does bitsetting.

Thanks

The GSA-U10N features a 8x DVD+R and DVD-R write speed. What speed does your burner software says it is writing? Some burner software offers read/write tests, Nero for example. Also, there are a number of utilities that can be downloaded to test write speed.

I'm not exactly sure of the exact speed off the top of my head, I can check later but I know it takes a good hour to burn a disk of data using Nero, Even if it says it recognizes it as a 8X disk. Which burner is in your T61/P and what speeds do you get if you don't mind me asking ??

Thanks Harryc

To anyone interested, I called support and told them what I've been seeing and they overnighted me another drive of the same model and 2nite I put it in and burned a full disk in 10 minutes YEA! that's more like it, I guess the other one was bad. RMA time.
