I haven't done it myself, but I found this:

http://www-3.ibm.com/pc/support/site.ws ... MIGR-57590

Dunno if it will help...

Hey Bill,

Don't use Norton Ghost, USe Drive image or acronis, both do the job properly....

Cloning T42 Hard disk

#5 Post by JDR » Sat Nov 20, 2004 8:02 am

I also had problems cloning my T42p 60 gb drive.
Previousy had no problem with my T40's.--used
norton Ghost 2003 or Acronis 7 or 8.
But I just ugraded to Norton 2005 - used Norton
Ghost 9. It will not properly clone
the T42 drive (fails to boot- just hangs)
Well I reloaded NortonSystem works with Norton Ghost
2003-- it cloned the drive fine.
One thing that doesn't appear to work-- in the past
I would just clone the C drive (active drive
with windows) and not the hidden IBM drive. Now that
will not work.

JDR

So Norton Ghost 2003 works and Norton Ghost 9 doesn't?

Will Norton Ghost 2003 work without cloning hidden IBM drive?

Thanks

Free yourself of the headaches that accompany Ghost, use Acronis True Image, it rocks.

Well thank-you MichaelMeier,

For your (earlier post) , this was just a suggestion, (and NO I don't get any commissions for this) .

It is just the best suggestion, (after lots and lots of trial and error) of defrag software out there for IBM laptops,(Which by the way is made in Germany too).

Magazines have promotional goals to SELL thats is why you cannot take EVERYTHING that they say as the truth, (you have'nt figured that out yet).

As with saying the big boyz this software IS THE ONLY one that is CERTIFIED by Microsoft themselves, No other (with the exception of the standard Windows drfrag software that comes with the OS) can state that!!!

You are obviously a NORTON lover thats fine, but with your continued references to the word "BIG BOYZ" you clearly have other issues you need to get sorted out other than your defrag problems, possibly some professional help would do you some good,
Here is a link for you : http://www.bdp-verband.org/bdp/verband/sektionen.shtml

As for "nonny" , he is just a lost cause that obviously does not get enough attention at home, poor guy, such a sad existance he has :!: :!: :!: :!:

If interested, I found a site that offered a substantial discount for Acronis True Image to existing Ghosters, like myself, when I made the switch.

But, sorry, I can't recall the url and don't know the offer still exists.

P.S.

Karn,

keep on rockin' it's a free world

Bill,

If you unhide the recovery partition in the BIOS, DriveCopy will clone everything.

You just have to remember to re-hide the partition.
