X31 compatible??

Is the IBM X31 compatible with "the dock" or does it have to be "the dock II?" I ask because the dock is so much less expensive and i would prefer to save some money if it is compatible with that one. Thank you X-series gurus!

The X31 requires the Dock II or Port Replicator II.

I am not sure by what you mean when you say "the dock". But as far as I know there is a mini-dock, port replicator 2, and dock II. According to IBM website, the X31 is supported by Port Replicator II and the Mini Dock. The Dock II does not list X31 as its supported laptops, however I suspect it does as it supports X30. btw, the dock II cost like an arm and a leg. I am expecting my Mini Dock to arrive tomorrow with my 20" LCD monitor. YEAH!!!
