Need help with bluetooth led

#1 Post by AvalonXIII » Thu Dec 20, 2007 7:51 pm

For some weird reason my bluetooth led isn't working anymore. I can still turn it on via Fn+F5 but the led wouldn't light up. Anybody has any idea on why this happen? I cannot even update the bluetooth data rate firmware because somehow my bluetooth is not found by the updater. I also just recently have my machine serviced by Lenovo, could it be that they somehow forgot to rewire the bluetooth led, or worst yet, remove the bluetooth card (I had them service on the screen, so it may possible be that somehow the wire is not reconnected)
Any help is appreciated :?

Does bluetooth show up in device manager and does it work at all?

it doesn't appear in device manager at all. What's even more weird is that it appears about 30 minutes ago when I open up device manager, now it just disappears. I'm trying to test my with my phone right now, so I'll see what happen

k, i have confirmed that it works, and it now appears in device manager after a restart. The only thing that isn't working is the led. Is there a driver that involves all the led light that I just don't know about?

In device manager > Bluetooth Devices look for:
- Bluetooth Bus Enumerator
- Thinkpad Bluetooth with Enhanced Date Rate

and under Ports it should show: Bluetooth Communications Port (COM5)

If those are there, FN-F5 should turn on the LED. If it doesn't call Lenovo.

hmm, enumerator and enhanced data is there, but i can't find ports anywhere, including checking all options inside enumerator and enhanced data. Am I looking at the right place?

I run Vista, so I'll let an XP person with a T60 verify that for you.

I run vista as well, but it's not there at all. is there any way i can open up the laptop and reconnect the wire for bluetooth somehow? my warranty expires 3 days ago, so talk about worst timing.
Seriously, what's wrong with Lenovo these days. They forgot one screw on my machine, messed with bluetooth, and even forgot to give me back my harddrive cover door that i shipped my laptop with.

That sucks. I guess that's one more thing to add to the lengthy list of things never to send to the depot with your TP.
