ITMedia interviewed with ThinkPad engineers at Yamato Lab on T61 Owl fan and historical thinkpad cooling technologies. Pretty interesting read.

Engineers interview - thinkpad cooling system
Re: Engineers interview - thinkpad cooling system
Using Babelfish, I got the gist of this piece and it was interesting that heat pipe technology and thermal conductivity materials superior to copper were mentioned. Also, some mention was made of the "feather" shape to the fan blades which is quieter and more efficient. An idea taken from observing Owl's silent flight, as I recall from another article.sugo wrote:ITMedia interviewed with ThinkPad engineers at Yamato Lab on T61 Owl fan and historical thinkpad cooling technologies. My T43p could certainly used more "feathery" blades, as it is pretty noisy, but thanks to some software available on this site, the noise it cut down quite a bit now.
