Help with t60p ir port/vpn issue

#1 Post by Seanp2500 » Fri Dec 21, 2007 1:14 pm

I was having a heck of a time using the access connection software on my t60p. Unfortunately for a time i made a real mess of things. I had deleted some reg keys and uninstalled my ethernet adaptor as per some instructions on this site. I had already tried pathing the dll file but I don't have same folder structure it seems. So when trying the afformentioned fix it caused me a whole mass of problems. I could never seem to reinstall the ethernet adaptor it wasn't taking drivers etc. Eventually I got squared away. But whenever I installed access connections I would get same issue. Wifi off can't power it on. Service stopped etc. So i decided to just do away with access connections all together and just use windows wifi connections. It works great. My ethernet adaptor now finally working says Local Area Connection 7 oddly but who cares it works (after some reading i guess this is due to all the uninstalls reinstalls i had to do to finally get it working.) Now my issue is in device manager while under infared devices it says IBM thinkpad fast infared port is installed. Under Network adaptors infared port has a yellow exclamation point. Now my friends at work think it is funny that I even care but still I know this is post my attempts to fix and I do want to fix this.

My other odd issue is I will be at home logged into IBM via At&t client. Working great. Using windows wifi. But if I am connected to the ac adaptor and I unplug it my vpn connection stops. When I look in services sometimes the wireless zone service is stopped along with net framework and some remote services. I restart services log back into vpn I am fine. I think it is odd that unplugging the ac adaptor would do that. Any ideas? Thanks for any help. I have been reading alot on this forum and it is great!

1. Reinstall your network drivers from lenovo.

2. Make sure Deep Smart Power Down is not enabled for your NIC.

My nic driver version is 9.7.251.0....when i try to flash to latest it acts like it already is here is my bios LENOVO - 2190
