R52 or T43 ?

#1 Post by sikpupy » Tue Dec 25, 2007 8:20 pm

I had a T41 and liked it but want to move up a step. As of now, I have a T40 but thinking about the Core duo, even though its way outta my price rang. I dont use the laptop that much to justify the price, but, still want to get something a step above my present T40, as I will use that for the guests that come over.

So, given the choice, what would you go with and why?

Why not a faster hard drive or more memory if may ask. Those would likely yield a bigger performance increase unless you have a specific need.

They are essentially the same machine in different bodies. The differences are only to accommodate the shell they are in. The one difference is that the T43 uses a SATA hard drive while some R52's uses a PATA drive. All that amounts to us a converter attached to the motherboard.

T43 because of the IPS display (latest R model having it was R51)

I'd go for the t43 I looved my r52 but the overall strength of the T series is worth some extra $$$

Well, my T40 does me just fine, but, like I said, I am gonna step up a notch to a 52 or 43 . One thing to consider is that PATA is about to go out the door with the DoDo, but, SATA isnt all up to its hype. Considering there is no and will be no motherboard upgrades, I am stuck with the SATA chipset and it appears to be a standoff.

Of course, the fasted drive will eventually go in, one day, and memory. The rest boils down to looks, feel, dependability...... T43 looks sexier than the R52, but, if the R52 does not cook my nuts when I have it on my lap, thats a definite bonus!! Not sure I want to hear WHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR all the time too with the t43, lol. But given all that, I wonder if there is anything in the motherboard layout, given the same specks, that would make one board faster than the other. Seeing as how I am not going to be changing them, guess I can finally be justifiably anal about that question, lol.

then why two of the same? If they want a stripped down version, why not just strip the T43 all the way? I know r52 for lower market bla bla bla.....but, same board???? Hmmm, okay, well, that is it then??? Guess its gonna come down to the simpler things making my decision, lol. Thanks for the update.
