I'm more than positive the main purpose is exactly that it is going to be abused and misused.

Slowly but surely, BIG BROTHER is gaining a foothold on us.

Buyer beware !

My 2 cents

Panic much?

Generally speaking, if you have anything to worry about (involved in criminal activity) this should worry you. If you are your average law abiding citizen... shouldn't have an issue.

FWIW, everyone has data stored at the FBI. Very common thing to happen. generally it is driver's license, residence information, and maybe job information. If you have every had a background check, or fingerprints done for anything, they have a copy of that too.

Big brother watches a lot more than most people would care to know. I can put my name into NYSPIN/NCIC and see every accident, traffic ticket and vehicle/registration I've had from the time I was 16 years old. Same can be done for anyone in the US.

In order to be untraceable you need to not have a job, not have a driver's license, not own a vehicle, not have a bank account, and only pay cash for anything that you do. BUT... don't plan on traveling, or buying nice things, or living very well.

Oh yeah... I bet your IPs are sent to the FBI too... so every time you post here, they'll know where you are. Oh... what about using the ATM, or using your credit/debit card for gas? Thats like leaving a breadcrumb trail.

Do yourselves the favor, put the paranoia away. You'll live a longer, healthier and happier life without that kind of stress.

One major difference though, k2jsv

Having a scan of someone's fingerprint means having the ability to replicate it if need be...and implicate...and...you follow the trail...

Kafka has said it all, some 100 years ago...and some others followed quite well...Zamyatin and Orwell, that is...

especially when you become an "inconvenience" to the U.S. government. anyone read news about 1.5 years ago about Canadian taken by CIA outside of the country and tortured for 8 months. Or have we forgotten about that already??? link: http://ipsnews.net/news.asp?idnews=38901

Are you guys for REAL?!

C'mon... I know the government does some really screwed up stuff, but this kind of paranoia is unhealthy. You want to live your life under a rock, be my guest. There are a lot more nefarious "things" out there than an FBI Biometrics Database. And really... if the FBI wants to screw with me, they can be my guest. They have my fingerprints for the security clearances that I hold, and for my pistol license.

Anyone creative enough around here can do the same damage or worse to you through identity theft as well.

Not really, and take it from someone who has been a victim of identity theft.

You can act on identity theft if you're monitoring your stuff closely and keeping your ducks in the row.

There is no way you can monitor FBI, CIA, or KGB (whatever its current name is), MI5 or MI6...but all of the above can monitor you if they choose to, and you'll never have a clue about it.

BTW, my fingerprints are in FBI's database as well. I've accepted that as necessary evil when I've moved to this country, but it doesn't mean I'm comfortable with it.

And not to forget: don´t use the fingerprint readers on your TPs as they are probabely transmitted via internet straight to FBI... Improbable, but not impossible! FBI (or any similiar) might be well interested exactly in people who need to use their fingerprint readers on their top-notebooks to protect information...

My 2 cents
