dvd playback stuttering (T61p / Quadro FX 570M / XP)

For your information, in case you have the same problem.

I have a 14" (1400x1050) T61p with the NVidia Quadro FX 570M graphics card, OS "downgraded" from the original Vista Ultimate to XP Pro.

When I tried to play a dvd I noticed playback stuttering a lot, this occurred in both Intervideo WinDVD and Windows Media Player.

I eventually managed to fix this by upgrading the graphics driver. The driver I originally had was dated relatively recently (can't remember when exactly, I think it was September 2007). Changing it to the following version cured the stuttering,

I obtained this via Windows Update.

By the way, dragging the Intervideo control around whilst in full screen playback is amazingly slow and laggy, I'm sure this used to work smoothly on my my old T40. There is a December driver available now, it seems drivers for the Quadro FX 570M are a work in progress.
