Thread locked due to duplicate

#1 Post by sugo » Wed Dec 26, 2007 8:31 pm

This thread is about potential BIOS check on non-Lenovo memory.

This thread is about system instability on T61p when running 3D intensive applications.
http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=47755

The first thread was locked due to "duplicate". It's not clear why. The two threads stated above clearly do not share the same focus of discussion.

The first thread is simply a continuation of the "dual memory chip problem". Read the OPs first sentence in the first post. It does belong in the original thread and Nonny was right to lock it. The 'BIOS' information, while it may be meaningful is simply additional input into the first problem.

If the BIOS check is true, it may affect all T61 and not just T61 with both memory slots filled with memory. The scopes of the two threads are different.

Here's the list of changes in 2.07 BIOS. A check for non-OEM RAM is not mentioned. There is mention however of an Nvidia graphics hang fix, so those with the "dual memory chip problem" might want to try it.

Version 7LETA7WW (2.07-1.08

* (New) Added the new error code 1830 to indicate that a single DIMM is not installed in the memory slot 0. Solution for the error code: With a single DIMM, install the DIMM into the memory slot 0 (a slot different from having used it).
* (Fix) Unexpected interrupts from the USB controller may occur.
* (Fix) The system with NVIDIA graphics chip may cause hang.

Edit: Locking this thread for the same reasons as cited above.
