Z60m Advacned dock and graphics card question

hey guys i have a Z60m with a 2ghz pentium M, 2gb ram, 128(256) MB HyperMemory ATIx600

i am looking to purchase the thinkpad advanced dock because i know it has a PCI-E (or pc i not sure which)...if ido this, will i be able to run applications using it, for example, im an architect and i need to run a CAD program that requires Pixel Shader 3.0, and hte x600 has 2.0, im looking to buy a card that i could drop in...would that work?, another question i have is that, if the card i can put in works, does it actually display on my pc screen, or do i have to connect an external moniter?, and last but not least, does anyone know what kind of card, ATI or Nvidea, would fit into the graphics port that dock?
