Recover partition question

Hi !

I would like to ask your help if any of you might expert in a problem of mine.

I need to manually create a partition which working with Lenovo blue button which normally loads the R&R. The reason why is too long to explain here, but it would be very very important. So in detail :

- I have a T61p.
- I have a completely empty hard drive.
- I need to create a partition which is loading when the blue button push.
- Does not matter what I will put on this drive (WinPe or R&R or linux, etc.)

I need to know this, because the the simply trick to use factory DVDs to recerate the hole HDD to factory state is though working , but as soon as I do any thing (e.g. install a Vista) something is changing (maybe in MBR, I dont know) and the blue button not bringing up the F11 option anymore.

So, I would need to know urgently how can I manually create a recovery partition. which program should I use and what should I set with th epartition or MBR, etc to make sure that the blue button to work.

Both Windows or Linux based instructions would help as I can handle both of them, just please kindly be detailed and sure abotu what you kindly suggest.

You cannot manually create Recovery partition. It's only present on lenovo preload and is created automatically once the restore is done with Product Recovery disks.

Clean install of any Windows does not have native recovery partition, only lenovo preload does.

From what I understood from your post which I found hard to understand, you require:

Rescue and Recovery - Recovery repair diskette.

You'll need a floppy disk drive.

As the last poster mentioned, I am not excactly sure what you are trying to achieve but....

You can used Acronis Disk Director to set up different partitions.

You can use Acronis True Image Home edition v11 to set up a hidden recovery partition AFTER you have installed every thing you want first.

Only thing is the blue button. I guess you could use a macro to do whatever you want it to do when you ready.

If you run the recovery cd's they will wipe out all partitions and create the restore partition. Then you are supposed to reboot and restore Windows from the newly created restore partition. I suppose you could interrupt this process after you create the restore partition and before you install windows form the partition. At that point you could do whatever you want to the rest of the hard drive (partitioning, install Linux, etc). Just be sure not to let anything touch the MBR if you want the blue button to work.
