FYI: Cases for X60/X61

#1 Post by khtse » Sat Dec 29, 2007 1:37 am

Once in a while people ask about cases for X61, I tried a few and I guess someone would appreciate if I post the result here. My X61 come with 8-cell battery

(1) Zeroshock III 12-inch sleeve case
http://shinza.com/product_info.php?cPat ... ucts_id=76
Perfect fit. Light weight, slim, good protection. It feels like it was build for X61 w/cell battery.

(2) ZeroShock Bag for 11 and 12-inch Notebooks
http://shinza.com/product_info.php?cPat ... ucts_id=91
Heavier than I expected. Too big for my X61. I have to add some foam to the bottom and to the side. Well, it did come with some foam and I just cut what I needed from the foam that came with it!

(BTW, Shinza does not produce ZeroShock. Shinza is just importing them from Japan.)

(3) Targus ThinkPad Office Executive Case for X Series IBM ThinkPad Notebooks
http://www.amazon.com/Targus-IBM563D-Th ... B0002BNTLO
No this one is slightly too small for X61 with 8-cell battery. Too bad, this is a perfect fit for my X31. If you are looking for a case for X31, I would recommend this one.

(4) IBM Thinkpad Sleeve Case
http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-12-IBM-ThinkPad ... dZViewItem
Very nice. As good as the Zeroshock sleeve case. But I prefer the zeroshock because I prefect the zipper.
If you want this case, buy from this seller. IdeaStyle is the company who designed several cases for IBM/Lenovo. You can check out their website at http://www.ideastyle.net.
There are many fake IBM thinkpad sleeve cases on eBay :x . The material used on the real one is comepletely different from that used on those fake ones. The real one uses a material that is very similar to the material used on those zeroshock cases (afterall they call it antishock...) and has the "IBM ThinkVantage" logo when you open the case.

i like the be-ez sleeves a lot.

too bad they mainly focus on apple laptops.

i however have a 12" sleeve for my tp x30 &x60 and sold my T42 with a similar black/orange 14" be-ez sleeve.

ps: their "coming soon" black adict line would be great to complement thinkpad laptops, too bad they're only designed for Apple!!

So which one for the X61S with 8 cell? Will the first one fit well?

Hi everybody,

First post 8)

I´ve been reading different thinkpad-forums a lot in the last few weeks and eventually ordered a x61t. I already downloaded all the usable software that pibach&co. are recommending and i´m really ready to get the machine and get her running.

but i´m still looking for a nice, small, mobile case. at first i wanted to order the lenovo sleeve (maybe i still will) but then i decided that i wanted something more solid and found this nice protection:

http://store.apple.com/Apple/WebObjects ... o=A59B1826

It´s made for a 13.3" MacBook, but I was wondering if anyone ever tried a x60t/x61t with it.
I really like the solid but compact appearance.

Or does anybody know something similar that would suit my x61t?

The ZeroShock III 11-inch case fits my X61 (4-cell) very snugly. If you don't intend to use the 8-cell ever, then this will be a good choice.

I have had the one from sfbags.com for about 4 months now and LOVE it.

http://www.sfbags.com/products/sleeveca ... ecases.htm

That is just the sleeve case which fits my 8cell battery x61t. You just need to specify that size. I also bought the cargo bag and accessory bag combo. It stung a little when I paid for it, but after having it, I have had more and more compliments on it. I was flying from VA to RI last night and the guy next to me took down all the information on where to get one for his Thinkpad.

Best quality product I have owned for any laptop to date and the service is top notch. They advertise that they are more expensive and list all the reasons (primarily, they hire good people HERE and make their products HERE and have customer service HERE in the United States, in San Fran, where it's expensive to live).

You will not be disappointed with this. I really like the neoprene interior that holds my machine in place and it's pretty think so no shock as well.
