R61i Power On Password

Hey there guys, well i just bought a Lenovo Thinkpad R61i(7732-A12), i bought it as open box at the place that i work at, well ive had a thinkpad before so i know how to set the settings in the bios, so i was like ill set the power on password and put the hard drive password later, the thing is when i put in the password and saved the changes and restarted the computer it tells me that its the wrong password, i dont get it because i know 100% that the password is right, is there anything i can do, ibm is sending me a box to check it out, they said they might bill me if they find thats not the case. but i just want to know if there is anything i can do. thanks

What was the password? Did it have any spaces in it? Was caps lock on?

the password had no spaces and had no capital letters it had 1 number, just to see what would happen i put the caps lock on and tried it, and then tried it with the num lock, no go on either try

As the HMM on page 30 and 31, It doesn't state if there is a limit on the amount of characters. Try omitting the last character, if it is long.

the password is like 7 characters long, there shouldnt be any problems with that, but i tried that anyways and it didnt work, thanks though

i tried it and it didnt work, i also set the Supervisor Password and i guess thats whats stopping the password from being reset

im just wondering, does this ever happen, has anyone had this problem, i find it to be really annoying, i mean i just got the thing last night, and figured hey i had a thinkpad before ill just set the password on this one like i did the old one, and bam its saying that the password that you entered correctly 4 times doesnt want to work when you reboot

How old is it? Perhaps you can Flash the BIOS using a Disketter?

its only a day old, i just got it last night, its a Lenovo Thinkpad R61i, so i know that this model has been out for i think about 2 months
