Your backlight is shot. Period.

If you don't feel like changing it yourself, forum member jamiphar does an outstanding job replacing these.

.....OR

By the way, Welcome to the Forum!

If you feel like tackling the job yourself, backlights are available on eBay (@$10) and here is a link for replacing one yourself (it's not your model); http://personal.bellsouth.net/d/r/drseng/ThinkpadCCFL/

I've done several (more than ten), it's not hard if you take your time and don't rush.

If you do attempt........ you'll need a hardened phillips - .000 bit. Wiha makes excellent small screw drivers or just find a Home Depot or Lowes and they'll have sets you can take a gander at. Just remember, you want a hardened tip.

.....or just replace the screen.

You now have a well rounded idea about what this forum is here for.

Good Luck!
