This a fair trade????Thinkpad for Dell

#1 Post by SaberX » Tue Jan 01, 2008 6:58 pm

I was just offered a Dell laptop for trade for my X30.
I have a X30 ,1.2ghz , with 1 gig ram, 160gig 5400rpm ,dock with cd-rw/dvd,wireless ABG,new battery in great shape and working better.

I was offered a Dell D600 laptop.
The Dell has P-M 1.4 ghZ, 40 gig 5400rpm ,512 ram , cd-rw/dvd-rom ,14.1" (1400x1050) , great shape.

I think the trade would be fair BUT i just like how small the X30 is.
The X30 is a little slower but i can live with that.

What do you people think?

I wouldn't. With the exception of the CPU and screen it's a downgrade.

I second that. Dell 600 is nothing to rave about.

You should get money from the other person if you're thinking of swapping a machine with 1 GB SDRAM for one with 512 MB DDR.

The Dell D6** series was pretty crappy until the D620. But this D600 is probably worth more than your X30. Maybe you can swap, sell the Dell and use the money to get an X31.

Fourthed, Bill. If you want a 14.1" SXGA+, a T40/41 would be countless times more worthwhile than a D600.

Thanks for all the replys.
I almost went for it. The cpu speed is more(P-IIIm-1.2Ghz VS P-m 1.4Ghz).Would be nice to get a little increase in power.
But the screen would be the bigest upgrade.
I think if i do look for something else it would be a T4x with sxga+.Even if i had to put $$$ with the X30.For now i'm happy with the X30.

Man, that's a piece of garbage. My coworker has an XGA D600 and it's disgusting. Keep your X30!
