I can not connect to my wireless network with my X31
• When I click on the wireless icon (low right corner), a screen titled Wireless Network Connection is presented. This screen says “Windows can not configure this wireless connection. …”
• If I right click this icon, I get a pop-up for “repair” and “View Available Wireless Networks. Clicking the “view” option brings me back to the Wireless Network Connection mentioned above. Clicking the repair option gives an error message “Window could not finish repairing the problem because the following action cannot be completed: Connecting to the wireless network.” {This response makes no sense to me.}
• Next, I clicked on IBM Access Connection. I get a message titled QCWizard.exe – Illegal System DLL Relocation. “The system DLL uer32.dll was relocated in memory. The application will not run properly. The relocation occurred because the DLL C:Windows\system32\HHCTRL.OCX occupied an address range reserved for Windows system DLLs. … I don’t what this means but it sounds bad. If this problem got fixed, is it likely that the IBM Connection would allow the wireless connection to be re-established?
• My final step was to remove the wireless driver. Reboot and let the driver reinstall. It appears that the driver successfully reinstalled itself.
• BTW, I know that my network is working OK as the wireless connection on my other laptop works fine.
• Connecting to my network via Ethernet works fine.

Wireless X31 Connection
Lenovo has a download which resluts in a driver "Thinkvantage Access Connections" which with their "Hot Key" drver means you can turn on and off the 801 b and/or g wireless siystem and, if installed, Bluetooth
The driver gets its "knickers in a twist" sometimes but not always when workng with "Windows Wireless Connections".
Therefore try right clicking on the wireless (TV like) icon inthe bottom right system tray and "open wireless connections" and in that screen there should be a middle icon for the "Wireless Connection" which may have an X for disconnected or, if connected possibly also it will (or should) say firewalled.
Right click on that icon and a menu comes up and click on the middle tab "Wireless Networks". Then right click on "Properties" and a screen with a box appears: Let Windows Configure Wireless Networks".
In my case, as Think Vantage Access Connections handles the initial sign on, that box is empty. I have found that the Repair and Bridge options are wastes of time.
On specific occassions I check the "Use Windows to configire the wireless network" box, for setting up my two Apple iPorts so I can stream music from my iTunes to my two separate Bose sound systems. And in those cases I set up specifc IP addresses as addresses under DHCP seem to wander around (and that has nothing to do with Mozart).
But you really need the latest drivers and if you have not already done so, download Lenovo's "Think Vantage System Update" which will let you do that.
Incidentally turning the modem off and rebooting can sometime refocus the sign on. Remeber it takes time for handshaking especially with WPA security etc. and it is counterproductive to be impatient.
