Screen quality, is it a sacrifice to use a tablet?

Screen quality, is it a sacrifice to use a tablet?

#1 Post by nikemen » Wed Jan 02, 2008 2:04 pm

So, I have been round and round with the SXGA+ and XGA MT tablets, still not sure which I prefer,

but, the question is, is it just going to be a sacrifice of screen quality to go with a tablet?

I am comparing this to my three+ year old T41, XGA which has a pretty decent screen. Not sure which one it is exactly, but brightness is good, screen contrast is good, quality is good, everything is nice and sharp, legible and most importantly, the impact on the reader is very low. Like reading a magazine or something. I sit and use this thing, the T41 for the entire day most days.

I want the same thing, but in the tablet. The XGA X61t, I have to pretty much keep the brightness at full power or -1 power to have the whites nice. But, the sharpness is a bit off. Just a bit fuzzy, compared to the T41 for years ago.

The SXGA+ has the sparkly effect. And, I find the brightness and or minimal screen shimmer a bit distracting?

Is a tablet just going to be a bit of a sacrifice?

I would say yes.
Unfortunately there is no SXGA+ non-tablet-x-thinkpad available.
