New Memory for T61p and some problems

#1 Post by jyck » Wed Jan 02, 2008 8:09 pm

Hi,

Recently I have bought new memory for my T61p and I have some problems. I have bought 4GB of OCZ PC-6400 DDR2 (800 Mhz), I have installed the memory and works OK, but the memory only works at 667Mhz, Is there any way or trick to make the memory works at 800 Mhz? Maybe any utility to change the SPD of the memory to make it "compatible" with the white list of the t61p bios? and if is not possible to use the memory at 800 Mhz, do you know any app to change the ram timings on t61p??My bios is the latest, 2.07

thanks a lot

Unfortunately the memory is locked to 667mhz in the bios.

I afraid not.

However, it is expected to be possible with the coming up chipset refresh from Intel.

also have a pc2-6400 800 mhz that operates at 667mhz in my t61p. was hoping that there would be a tool for the pm965 chipset that memory timings could be set from 5-5-5-15 down to 4-4-4-12 or even lower. this chipset is not too uncommon that there might be a tool out there. if someone knows.

how much difference would there be with the utilization of 800mhz memory?
