Fedora 8 on T60p with ATI

#1 Post by bkearns » Thu Jan 03, 2008 12:10 pm

I'm looking for a fool proof walkthrough for a total linux NEWB to install the ATI drivers and get 3D working. Can anyone help? I've seen the wiki page regarding my system but it doesn't work or the writer overlooked the newb factor

Thanks in advance!

Check this site out for help with ati drivers.

http://rpm.livna.org/rlowiki/

Install the Fedora 8 Repo RPM then find the ati driver and install that and use livna-config-display to setup your Xorg.

Well I tried that and 3 days worth of other tips I've found online that failed. I guess desktop effects will never work with fedora and ati. I don't get it though, I install Suse 10 and EVERYTHING works out of the box. But I don't like the OS, I do like fedora. I have a T60, a T60p and a T61. Desktop effects does not work on any of them :(
