Wacom driver works great instead of think pad driver!
I install the latest drivers from . Wacom Europe site (only) it work great; it adds features such as hover click and pressure sensitivity the the OEM driver don't have. It works perfectly.
X61t thinkpad: sxga+, 4g ram, 100hd hitachi 7200, vista 32 bit, turbo memory, intel AGN, bluetooth, ultrabase,4 cell battery, 8cell battery

yes, it does introduce new option - but digging deeper into it they are not useful (as unfortunately they are not context sensitive, i.e., you cannot define different button functions for different windows). Best way to use the Tablet is to swith off Vista gestures and instead use StrokeIt. Then hover mode and different button configurations are conflicting.

Wacom old driver had some issues, but the new drivers they just release 12/11 is really good stuff and it is free. I like the the hoover mode where you don't have to touch the screen to click.

install driver, then go to program menu. Click "pen Tablet" and change your pen Options... you still have the old "Tablet pc" option but wacom driers gives you additional option with your pen. Like hoover click & change the pen button. I recommend changing the pen button to "click" & not "right click" and enable hoover mode you still hare all the regular pen pressure sensitivity but in addition it will give you an option of selecting a icon in the air & you don't have to touch the screen I USe this hoover click to play online poKer & it is great. It adds value to myTablet. This help to reduce scratches on the screen. Plus you can still "right click" by pressing on the screen for 2 sec.

downsides?
Are there any functional downsides to these drivers? I remember before I had a tablet reading there were some Wacom driver problems?
Can and or DO the two co-exist? Or, should one uninstall the current IBM drivers?

wacom updated the drivers on 12/10/07 so the issues they had was fix I- think. the thinkpad driVer coexist with wacom you don it have to disable anything drivers. Just install & configure your pen options. It work perfectly for me on my new X61t. And please don't uninstall the thinkpad driver !! just download wacom in addition to your factory drivers. This will work for any Tablet P.C.by the way

Caveat emptor. I just downloaded and installed the latest Vista driver from the Wacom website specified above, cons5.05-7_int.exe. While it did enable the menus described above to a X61 MultiTouch Tablet, it also disabled the touch capability. I am working to recover the touch and would like to hear if others have had success.

To follow up on my previous post, after installing the Wacom driver, to recover touch you have to install the Lenovo touch driver for your OS, in this case 32 bit Vista from this webpage:

Let me know if this works for you.

I have the X61t with XP Tablet 2005. Which file should I use?
1. cons5.05-7_int.exe: Driver 5.05-7 RC for Windows Vista (32 and 64 bit), XP & 2000
2. pro605-7_int.exe: Driver 6.05-7 RC for Windows Vista (32 and 64 bit), XP (32 and 64 bit) & 2000
The 2 drivers seem the same except on is the "comsumer" version and the other is "professional."

It seems I have two choices:
1. Pen works so-so and touch works fine (Lenovo drivers only)
2. Pen works great but touch not at all (Wacomm drivers only)
Installed in both XP tablet and vista. Both installs have the same problem. If i use the lenovo drivers alone, the touch works well but not the pen. If I install the Wacomm driver on top of the normal lenovo drivers, the pen works much better and the touch does not work at all. If I then install the multitouch lenovo drivers again, touch works but not well (not usable) but pen doen't work at all. I hate the X61t. It has never worked well for me. It is an expensive paperweight. My X31 is still working flawlessly.

Caution if using Vista x64 SP1
This disabled touch functionality for me. Tried re-installing both drivers with no success.
In the end had to go back to only multitouch driver.
