Now if they can just make it run properly (7200-rpm) or better yet, twice as fast (10,000-rpm), we will finally have a good drive with lots of space for at least four years or so. ... JDH

This drive will most likely be SATA, unfortunately.

How about them apples?

Aww crap, just noticed.... It's 12.5mm so it wont fit in our systems anyways.

Will it fit in any laptop? Would it fit in newer thinkpads like the X60?

Either way, exciting news

Nope, still can't even do that. They take 9.5MM drives. You can use a USB 2.0 thingy tho for 12.5mm drives and have all that storage with ya tho. Oh well :)

If I'm not mistaken, some older systems (A2x, A3x,T2x) will take 12.5 mm drives, but the issue here is that these'll be SATA. Now can these possibly fit in an UltraBay 2000 HD caddy?!?!

I just found on thinkwiki, that in the advanced dock is Ultrabay Enhanced, which is "a bit thicker" thank Ultrabay Slim (current version of our laptops).

I measured my Slim CD module, and its realy 9.5mm. But I found in specifications, that Enhanced CD module is 12.7mm. So maybe it can fit to advanced dock?

From the Samsung Website on the M5 drive:
"The new SpinPoint M5 hard drives feature a 5,400rpm spin rate, 1.5Gbps SATA interface and 8MB cache memory. PATA models will be added to the lineup in May."

Let's hope the same is true for the M6!
