Fix for TVTSCHED

#1 Post by richk » Fri Jan 04, 2008 7:48 pm

Lenovo released a fix for the problem I reported January 1, where my T42p would hang at startup. The release date says 12/21/07, but I really think it wasn't there Jan 1.

Fix for TVTSCHED

#2 Post by dg » Mon Jan 07, 2008 1:20 pm

I had this fault last year. I've avoided it since by disabling tvtsched.exe . I notice that the T41, T42 & T42P are not included in the supported systems for this fix. Any ideas why not?

They probably only list newer systems. If you look for updates for your machine, this should be there. It fixed my problem on T42p

Well spotted richk :thumbs-UP:
I've been hit by it several times and have been following the different threads in the forum with interest. I have also reported it to Lenovo, but never received a solution. Strange that it always seems to hit at the start of a month

How many people have been hit unawares and have just given up and re-installed?

My vote would be to make this fix, with a modified title, a sticky in maybe General HW SW. (When OP and Mods agree).

suggestion for modded title; "Fix - System Hang After Log-In TVTSCHED"

I also ran into this problem a couple months ago and I spent countless hours trying to track it down. I vote for a sticky.

I have question: this patch said it support for RNR 3-4.1, but lower this page said it will support RNR 3.x- 4.0.XX. which is correct?

BTW, I used use RNR3.0.0042 and upgrade to 4.2.0511. I don't meet this problem.

My guess is that it works for both. My experience is that it works fine, sometimes for months or years then it starts getting sick. I suggest applying the fix.

Another recent victim. Disabled it for now. What's the strategy for a fix now?
