should linux come with a warning?

#1 Post by Paul Unger » Sat Jan 05, 2008 5:31 pm

Should linux come with a medical warning something along the lines of:

WARNING! Linux, in any variation, prompts addictive behaviours! You will work through hardware and software issues with the relish of a dog gnawing on a bone and will not rest until they are resolved! You have been warned! Proceed at your own risk!

I ask because I think I'm addicted . . .

I voted no, but I see what you mean.

Fedora 8 everything just worked out of the box really, so no complaints there. Besides the Wireless LED light, lol 8) 8)

Use whatever OS you want. Windows supports everything I need, whereas MAC and Linux do not. But they are still decent systems, so just use whatever. ... JDH

for me its the other way round. Ubuntu just works, whereas in Vista you can fight forever with all the bugs and have only little chances to resolve them.

I believe that it's also a question of persistence and preferance when it comes to one type of bugs over the others...

Still a Linux newbie, but am liking it more and more...which is not what I'd say about Vista...

I believe pibach may have misinterpreted my post. I am not saying any one OS has bugs or has not bugs. What I was saying is that stuff that I run (and must run) does not come in MAC or Linux versions. That is why I remain in Windows. I happen to like XP as well because it is entirely crash-free over a five year period.

Once again, MAC and Linux are just fine and use whatever you wish. ... JDH

jdhurst, I was nor refering to your post but to the general thread topic.
I am also quite peased with XP. Now got Vista on new x61t. But there I struggled endlessly with the "Battery Drain Bug", http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=53757. Switched to Xubuntu and had no issues at all.
