'There is trouble w/ turbo memory at first but after I figure to update the Driver thru Intel website & not Lenovo website (because lenovo had a older version of the Turbo memory driver) then it work perfectly.) Now It doesn't crash anymore.
this is the driver from Intel for Vista 32 Bit.

Yea in my haste to order and save $300 with a coupon I added the turbo memory, and then I read about the vista Power Drain bug so now I need to decide wether to use Vista Basic or Xp Pro.ryengineer wrote:Intel's Turbo Memory is not supported by any other Operating System other than Windows Vista.Justintoxicated wrote:thanks for the link, so the turbo memory will not work in XP?.....snip
Either wasted $50 on turbo memory, or deal with some stupid vista bug. Honestly i'll probably go with XP, I wonder how hard it would be to pull the turbo memory out. If its a pain I will just disable it I guess, what a waste/scam of $50 that was. At least I didn't pay the extra $50 for expedited shipping!

Well its seems there is alot of mis information on this site, so I don't know what to believe until mine gets here then. I read about a vista battery bug meaning that for unknown reasons the X61S will onyl get 4-5 horus when operating with vista but swuitch to XP and you get around 8 hours. So I ordered mine with vista basic since I have a spare copy of XP I was planning to put on it.SHoTTa35 wrote:what Vista bug that wastes battery? I'm using Vista now and no problems there.
Now I read I can't use the turbo memory in XP and there may be no such thing as the Battery bug so now I wish I had ordered a better version of vista than "Basic". Laptop shipped today so too late to make any changes now...

Funny, my X61s gets 6.5-7 hours with a readable display. Perhaps you should check your power settings.thormdac wrote:been reading and experiencing this on a number of machines, beginning with an x60tablet, and currently on my t61 santa rosa.Justintoxicated wrote: ..the X61S will onyl get 4-5 horus when operating with vista but swuitch to XP and you get around 8 hours. ...

x6xx usually get about 8,5 hours with full load 8cell, checked directly after boot with power manager.
my power settings are all default.

You might find it interesting that some folks on the Slackware GNU/Linux list are mounting /lib (read only) on thier Robson/Turbo Memory chips. Pretty cool.Intel's Turbo Memory is not supported by any other Operating System other than Windows Vista.

Bogus!
Vista can reach battery runtimes well past 8 hours on my X60. The key is to figure out applications that don't let CPU go to lower power states and a few other tweaks. I might sound a bit generic but listing all the stuff would be very long. About the first point, network-based applications are the worst. For example Google Talk is the worst one, severely cutting runtime by at least 2 hours.
