Z60m onscreen display | updated drivers installation issue !

#1 Post by empiref » Mon Jan 07, 2008 10:06 am

PLEASE HELP !!!

P M 760(2GHz), 1 GB RAM, 80GB 5400rpm HD, 15.4in 1280x800 LCD, 64MB ATI Radeon X300, CDRW/DVDRW, Intel 802.11abg wireless, Bluetooth/Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure chip, IEEE 1394, 6c Li-Ion batt, WinXP Pro

about a week ago, suddenly my onscreen display vanished....all volume functions, display brightness functions, the Thinklight Keyboard light and the ThinkVantage blue button. when the ThinkVantage blue button is pressed nothing happens.....

i searched the forum and i found the following post.
http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... me+display
i didn't quite understand what to do.....i thought if i reinstalled the display driver, everything would turn out fine...so i downloaded it from the Lenovo website and installed it but nothing happened.

then i decided to update all my drivers using system update, and maybe that would solve everything....i downloaded all the new drivers that were available....and when i tried to install these drivers, i received (installation error) for most of them.....(that never happened with the old version of software installer before i had to upgrade to system update 3.1

here is a capture of the screen of my installation history
http://a.imagehost.org/0137/installation_history.jpg

1- i need help with my display issues, and please provide me with the links for the corresponding drivers. (please)
2- i need help with my failed installations of updated drivers, is there any place that system update stores all these downloaded drivers, or do i need to download them again ? (also any help on how to install them would be great)

please people i need all the help i can get, and thank you all in advance for your time and patience, and God bless you all !

MOD EDIT: Picture without warning, overlimit, converted to link, kindly follow rules of the forum next time. Thanks.

1. Drivers and software - ThinkPad Z60m, Z60t.

2. The files names will be all cryptic, instead of figuring out which folder contains which package, downloading them again would be a better option in my opinion:

C:\Program Files\Lenovo\System Update\session.

Thank you Ryengineer, you were a great help....i managed to update all my drivers.

but i have a couple of small questions, if you'd be kind enough to answer for me.

1- after i updated all my drivers, and whenever i press the "CapsLk" button, i lost the small notification that appeared in the right hand corner.....any idea on how to regain it?

2- i noticed that the folder [C:\Program Files\Lenovo\System Update\session] contains about 2.3GB.....can i delete all the files inside that folder to regain the space?

3- i have Norton Ghost 12 as a backup software, is it safe to delete the rescue and recovery software provided by Lenovo?

thanks again for your time and patience

1. I don't have that either, I believe the new hotkey drivers don't support that function anymore.

2. Except *.ser,*.xml files and "System", "temp" folders you can delete everything.

3. Sure, deleting Rescue and Recovery will not stop you from booting in the service partition.
