Me & My ThinkPad story .. :)

My first personal PC was/is IBM ThinkPad. I bought 2 and half years back. Cool

Laptops are expensive in India pricewise compare to United States.
I was apearing for CCNA exam. I had several options like attending coaching classes. 2 years back fees for CCNA learning was almost 400 US$ . And fast track course for like 30 days max.

I was thinking why to spend that much just for 30 days. But I used to stay at hostel so desktop wasnt going to be so good option. I decided to buy laptop. I was badly seeking for cheap Toshiba Satellite series laptop. It was for like 1200 US$ that time. 1 of friend asked me to buy IBM laptop. Heck ..I never thought of buying it....IBM laptops look like suit case..haha !! I got e-learning stuff for CCNA & lab simulators which helped me a lot to pass CCNA along with my Thinkpad which I used almost 15 hours everyday ..I still remember I used 10 KBps slow GPRS conenction to download Cisco related stuff via internet. I used to leave my ThinkPad on whole night for that..Ha !

I saw advertise in news paper about cheap Thinkpad and as I had no more than 1000 US$ , i closed my eyes and went for ThinkPad.
I was shocked a bit no touchpad...Uh..Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr !!!!!
All laptops except mine has touchpad how sad...Haha!!! But as time lapped, I realized my laptop is the best laptop. I never had problem with it except once I replaced keyboard..Reason was "Prn Scrn" key was hard..Hehe !!!! Just a casual reason and :woot: IBM guy replaced whole keypad.

Till now I am running it. It's awesome. No laptop stands close to ThinkPad. Nice mechanical design ...Easy to open all parts. I hate COMPAQ, HP . Not easy to remove palm rest and other things that muc heasily as in ThinkPad.

I am waiting for my T60 coming tommorow from US.... Very Happy I dont want to sell out my R50e but to recover purchase cost I must sell it..... Sad

I am a Thinkie Fan ..... :woot:
I think not many Indians around this forum ... Very Happy

thinkpad was my 3rd notebook. the first one was $2000 toshiba satellite 2Ghz P4 which broke down barely after 1 year (right when my warranty expired). my next notebook was an ibook with sever quality issues such as space key in the keyboard sticking out, battery sticking out on one side more than another. the entire notebook looked like it was very cheaply assembled in china. i sold it after 8 months for half its price and got myself T60. The difference was unbelievable. It has been through 1.5 years of abuse and it is still working flawlessly. I'm hoping it will last me through graduate school.
