TP-R30 No Sound from Speaker

#1 Post by arizonakid » Thu Jan 10, 2008 4:46 pm

I recently purchesed a used ThinkPad R30.
There is no sound coming from the speakers. Sound from the ear-phone jack
is O.K. for both application programs and Windows XP system sounds.

Question: Is it possible that the speakers have simply been turned off,
(so as not to annoy others in office or
airplane)? If so, how can the speakers be turned back on? Thanks in advance for
any help/info. Arizonakid.

Welcome to the forums arizonakid...

Have you tried re-installing audio drivers? Download here

To answer your question on where to turn it OFF/ON.. try the Thinkpad Configuration Utility in the Control Panel. If this is not installed, get it here.

Although I have not yet tried it but I think PC-Doctor for R30 can test your speakers too.. PC Doctor here. I suggest you run this just to check your newly bought unit.

When I got my R30 (bought off eBay), even if it came loaded, I encountered problems with it too until I decided to reinstall everything (i.e. XP plus drivers).
