beep errors list on T23?

#1 Post by djtopcat » Thu Jan 10, 2008 8:37 pm

sorry I can't find the link I had yesterday for T23 beep errors chart on the Lenovo site
I just did the inductor resolder fix and now when I turn it on
I get 1 beep then 3 short beeps pause then another 3 short beeps pause then a final beep
I think I'm just gonna slap this sucker on my local Craigslist
I thought about buying a T41 instead thoughts?

3-3-1 beep code is a DIMM error. Reseat or replace your RAM. If that doesn't work replace your system board. T41's a nice machine...your coin :)

Probably this one:

T41s are nice, but some do suffer from a loose graphics chip (ATI models).

it's not the RAM sticks I just pulled my PC133s out of my Powerbook and they still beep I know that RAM is fine is there some connector I might've missed in the reassembly process that affects the DIMM slot?

I would take a moment and double check that you have put everything back together. Although you are getting a memory error it can happen if you've overlooked connecting something back to the mainboard. (The beeps also implicate the mainboard.) Obviously this laptop worked before you updated the BIOS and Embedded Controller.

Double check your work......or at least check it once more.

Here's my guess. You had the bad luck of having the inductor come loose or act up while you were updating the systems BIOS. In that event the BIOS did not install. The only fix for that is system board replacement. Man, you're just having a bad day...
