T41 battery life (number of cycle)

Hi,
I bought my T41 at the beginning of 2004 and my battery (the standard one) now only hold around 60% of its design charge (down from 47 to 28 ). It has now around 260 charge cycles. And when I do any heavy work (compiler) it seems to even discharge faster.


Does anyone knows the life expectancy of those batteries ? Maybe I should just go out and buy a new one.

does your battery last substantially shorter, or are you just going by the battery statistics?

Well,
it seems to last shorter. A full battery will now last me between 1:30 to 2:00 hours. I did not measure it when the battery was new.

Given that there's a 1 year warranty on the battery, I wonder how poorly it has to perform to warrant asking for a replacement? I think that if after 10 months I was only getting 60%, I'd as least ask IBM about it.

My 6-cell 47WHr batt lost 3-4WHrs in the first month of use, so I had IBM replace it. However, even the replacement is suffering from the same thing. I think I've found the only major flaw with ThinkPads: their batteries.
