A31 and Tawbook

#1 Post by Islandguy » Mon Jan 14, 2008 9:05 pm

I have a question concerning the information in tawbook...I am looking at an A31 2652-Q3U. The tawbook shows the mini pci as "open". Does that mean there is not a wireless antenna in the lid?

AFAIK, wireless upgradable are the models that come built in with antenna cables.

According to HMM of thinkpad A31:
Installation notice for the model with the wireless LAN feature

Some models have cables for the wireless LAN antenna. After you attach the LCD assembly, route the antenna cables as shown in the following figure, and secure the cables with new insulation tapes.

You can still install the antenna yourself. Look up the part number in the HMM and order it from a part supplier.

Have installed the antenna cables in about half a dozen A31(P)'s.

LCD covers with antennae already installed have labels on the side near the top with hash marks on them. If these labels are not on the cover then it didn't leave the factory with antennae installed.
