Anyone interested in seeing new flush external antenna mod?

#1 Post by Mannersxxx » Tue Jan 15, 2008 1:33 pm

After ripping my 600x apart for the hundreth time to fiddle with something I decided to get rid of the bulky modem port once and for all because I realised it could be unscrewed out. I then realised the gap in the external base was large enough for an external antenna jack. I finally finished the mod last night and its great. Basically its inspired by rkawakami's original mod:

http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... al+antenna

but I've found a way to have the jack internal so it doesn't stick out the side which was the only thing that put me off rkawakami's mod. With my mod - when screwing your antenna on it goes into the gap where the modem socket was.

I think its pretty neat and a decent enough solution to bad signal on my internal wireless with internal antenna. If anyone is interested let me know on this post and I'll try and post some pics somewhere.

Hope its ok to have quoted you rkawakami!

Not a problem! That's one of the reasons why I documented my modifications; it will inspire people to build upon this experience and improve on it. Looking forward to seeing some pics (links of course!).
