Which dvd burner for T23 ?

#1 Post by brodo » Wed Jan 16, 2008 5:09 am

Recently, I tried to fit my T23 (2647) with internal Pioneer Dvr-k17/1 dvd burner.

I did not work at all - the T23 wasn't even able to pass the Bios routine and stopped.
T23's Bios & embedded controller are the latest one. I tried to do it on another T23 also with the same result :(

Does anyone know if there are more DVD burners not working with T23 ?

Do you want a list of burners that don't work or a list of burners that do work?

Every list would be helpful to save time on searching the final model :)

Or if you are willing to do some extra work:

Bare drives like this one can be adapted with Ultrabay 2000 rails and a slight modification to the faceplate (bezel) or finding one which already has the proper notch on the front right corner. I have used UJ-820, UJ-840, UJ-850 (marked on the label, but mine shows UJ-841S :?: ) drives in my T23. Interesting that you mentioned the DVR-K17... I'm planning to try out a DVR-K16 (if all goes well on eBay).

I have a NEC ND-6650A in my T23. Works perfectly. I had to pull the drive rails and backplane off an existing Ultrabay drive and had to cut a small part of the NEC's bezel to get a solid fit but it wasn't a big deal.

Make sure the drive you're installing is making a full solid connection with the motherboard. The bezel can sometimes get in the way and cause some weird behavior. That could be why it failed previously. I'd try inserting the drive with the tray open, that way the bezel wouldn't be able to cause any issues.
