Ok, anyone had an issue with Data Execution Prevention (DEP) service? I have Windows Vista Business. Everytime, my T61 goes to sleep and I wake it back up. I get a popup saying "host process has stopped" and another message saying that "DEP service have stopped"!
There does not appear to be a way to disable DEP. Anyone know how to correct this issue?
Thanks in advance.
DEP services?
take a look at this http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=24052.
it seems this has to be disabled via the bios.

hmm
Ok, I followed the advice of the article. I disabled it in the bios. But I still get the "host process has stopped"... althought this time I don't get the "DEP service has stopped" anymore...
but what if I still want the DEP service to run??? I mean it's there for the purpose of preventing viruses and malware... I want DEP just not the bloody error messages and the start and stopping of the services whenever the machine goes to sleep and awakes...

ok ok
I think I may have found the culprit to my problem
It seems to be with HP all-in-one printers and their HPSLPSVC.dll which gets intercepted by DEP as malware/virus. I'll test it out soon...
