support.com scheduler?

#1 Post by JonathanGennick » Thu Jan 17, 2008 2:03 pm

I'm rebuilding an R40. It's the second one I've rebuilt this month. All I've done so far is to:

1. Restore the image from the recovery partition

2. Apply all the Windows updates from Microsoft.com

Every time I boot the machine now, I get a message from the Windows firewall about blocking something called the "support.com scheduler". Is that scheduler part of the Thinkvantage suite? Is it something I should try to remove?

It's odd that the scheduler cropped up on this R40 and not the previous one that I rebuilt. Both machines are the same type. Mostly though, I'm wondering whether I should get rid of it. And if so, then how?

I think support.com has gone. It seems to have stopped doing anything on my T41. In point of fact, I never used it anyway. Of all the tools IBM and Lenovo have tried to provide us with, the single and only tool that made any sense and that worked with any degree of facility and confidence was Software Installer and it has gone. ...
