R61i: 'downgrading' to xp

#1 Post by deejay22 » Thu Jan 17, 2008 9:02 pm

I'm thinking of installing xp instead of the pre-installed vista. Has anyone done it? Are there any pitfalls for the unwary? I would like to create a recovery disc so that if things get messed up I can easily restore the machinge to its factory state. I can see how to do it from the computer but there are no directions how to create an external recover cd. Thanks.

What do you mean by "external recover cd" (sic)?

Following is an explained procedure:

How to create recovery media using ThinkVantage Rescue and Recovery.
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.

i did it to my r61i with 2gb ram, the thinkpad's performance was so much better than vista, you will notice a huge speed difference and your hard drive wont be working as much as it is with vista

XP works fine, basicly, i'm never using more then 1gb ram with XP
And sometimes i run lots of things
ThinkPad R50e,
ThinkPad R61i (upgrade 2gb ram),
Wish: Thinkpad X
