Lenovo pc business unit is losing market share.

is it because of the mediocre PC and laptop quality and its poor customer service?

In 2006, Lenovo ranked 3rd. In 2007, they ranked 4th. But market share went up from 7.1% to 7.5%. Dell was the only company whose market share went down.

"Lenovo was hurt by its weak consumer presence in Q4 – an issue the company took steps to alleviate by announcing its Idea line earlier this month – however, still showed relatively good performance in consumer sales in both EMEA and the United States during the quarter, according to data from the researchers."gunston wrote:Lenovo pc business unit is losing market share.
Forrester Research data shows that Lenovo is performing extremely strongly in corporate sector markets.

First of all, we're all rabid ThinkPadder's, so success is our preference for Lenovo.gunston wrote:http://www.edn.com/article/CA6523439.ht ... 1928555985

Second, marketshare isn't the Holy Grail, profitablity is!
Third, I don't know if Lenovo has lost or gained marketshare lately, but I can tell you the reason they do not have more marketshare isn't due to qualtiy or support, it's because their advertising has been second or third rate for decades.
It seems Lenovo is now trying, IBM's advertising is still awful, but why not just get a clue from Dell or HP/Compaq? Just advertise everywhere all the time - keep it bold and simple. Really, it's a simple formula.
How about "The best made, most reliable laptops for decades, ThinkPads." Then just add some models, spec.'s and sale prices.

I actually saw an X61 tablet commercial the other day at the Gym, I was like "Omg first thinkpad commercial ever?"
